Then and Now

The longevity of Arrow Park as a retreat, a place of gathering and celebration, and a natural jewel for the enjoyment of the “simple things in life” has been made possible by the hard word and diligence of those that have managed, dedicated of their time and  money, and supported this rustic old estate throughout the years. To those individuals, groups and friends – we extend a heartfelt sense of gratitude. Equally important are those individuals and families who have simply “come here to enjoy” because that is what Arrow Park was intended for.

For many Shareholders (many of who are now second and third generation descendants of the original immigrant founders), Friends of Arrow Park and the thousands who visit yearly – Arrow Park can be somewhat of a “memory from the past,” or even simply a place that was talked about when the “old folks” were reminiscing. Our goal is to share the history and heritage of our “place in the country, a world away.” We hope to keep our recent guests abreast of what is new, and offer a haven for memories for all who have experienced the magic of the park.

To mark our 70th Season, we have begun to compile an online history of Arrow Park to show some of the recent (and not so recent) changes and updates that have occurred around the property.

We encourage any and all who may have photographs, videos, pamphlets and postcards from Arrow Park's past (and present!) to contact us so that we can include them on these pages.

Arrow Park is continually in a state of updating, renovation and preservation. When dealing with a property that encompasses not only the century old main buildings, but the elements of nature, water and woodlands, prioritizing concerns can become a less-than-perfect state of affairs.

On this Seventieth Anniversary, we look back on some of the progress make in recent years which included major upgrades to the Main House, Pavilion/Dance Hall, gardens and many similar activities throughout the property. (See slideshow above.) Foremost, we are striving to move forward with a keen appreciation for preservation, conservation and heritage.

If you are interested in contributing to the efforts of Arrow Park, we welcome your donation (of time or money), your expressed interest and your promotion by word of mouth and social media.

For the fun of it...

Many of us our old enough to remember the drive to Arrow Park with our parents. Our families packing the car, possibly some food, always some refreshments, and – of course – bathing suits. Thoughts were about boating, swimming, hiking and playing some basketball – and, of course some stuffed cabbage and other treats in the main house. Perhaps there was going to be a dance or concert. Regardless, we always knew that along the way there was the “required stop” – Red Apple Rest.

Arrow Park is active on the internet with our main website, arrowparkny.com, Facebook and Instagram. We encourage you to visit and contribute.
